If you know me then you know how huge of a Gaga fan I am. One of the things that makes me like her so much is the fact that she is so comfortable with being so weird. The new music video for "Born This Way" may have reached the point for me where I'm not sure so much weird is ok. The song itself is amazing! It has reached number one in every country in the world and was Billboards 1,000th top 100 song. The video, however, is not going to be in my favorites list...

Update: Toomer's Trees
The news of the idiot who has poisoned the iconic trees at Toomer's corner at Auburn University has made it to CNN.
"Al" from Dadeville, Alabama has been identified as 62 year old, yes the man is 62 years old, Harvey Updike, Jr. He will reportedly be charged with first-degree criminal mischief and as of this morning is being held on $50,000 bond at the Lee County Detention facility.
You know that rural Alabama is a boring place when we have senior citizens participating in petty crimes over college football rivalries. This old man has made, not only every University of Alabama fan, but everyone in the state look like complete idiots. The last thing that the rest of the country needs to see on CNN is yet another Alabamian making a fool of all of us.
I can only hope that Updike spends the rest of his retirement in prison with a girlfriend named Butch to keep him company.

Killing Trees? Have we really sunken that low?!
If you are from Alabama, or even from the south, you know about the time aged tradition of Alabama and Auburn football rivalry.
Throughout the past, both sides of the war have made fools of themselves for the sake of their team of choice; but this guy "Al" from Dadeville, Alabama has taken it just a little too far for me.
Al supposedly called a local radio station and told the sports newscaster that he had fatally poisoned oak trees that have become an icon to Auburn football fans all over. The trees are traditionally rolled by students and fans after an Auburn win, but when the Tigers overtook Alabama in the last Iron Bowl, Al was too mad to take looking at those trees rolled yet again.
"The weekend after the Iron Bowl I went to Auburn, Alabama, because I live 30 miles away, and I poisoned the 2 Toomer's trees," Al said when he called into the radio station. After being reminded that the offense that he was admitting to was illegal, he added, "Well you think I care? ... I really don't. Hey, and you can tell Tammy I ... nevermind. Roll d*mn Tide!"
Horticulture professors have determined from soil samples that there is little hope for the survival of the trees, but they are doing everything that they can do to care for it. It's likely, though, that the trees won't make it.
What really struck me was how Auburn University has responded to the whole ordeal. The university has issued statements about upholding their reputation and students have rolled the trees, for what could be the last time, to show their pride for their school and team.

The 53rd Grammy Awards - Good...and Terrible!
The Grammy awards are typically my favorite award event of the year, but this year the show left me pretty pissed.
First off, I can understand the academy's wanting to include a wide range of performers for the three and a half hour event, but because of that, only 11 of the 109 Grammys given were actually televised. It may just be me, but I think an awards show should probably focus on the awards they are giving.
Secondly, there were a few performances that were great, like Lady Gaga and the trio singing "Jolene" by Dolly Parton, but there were also a few that I would have much rather gone without, including Arcade Fire who took Album of the Year.
That brings me to my third point. Who the hell is Arcade Fire and Esperanza Spalding?! Spalding beat out both Justin Bieber and Drake for Best New Artist and I have never heard her name in my life. Apparently very few others have either. The internet has been in an uproar since the award was announced, and it got even louder after Arcade Fire took the best award of the night.
I am sure that there are large amounts of people who follow both of these people's music, but the masses do not. Shouldn't a band have a hit song before being given one of the most coveted awards in music? I'm willing to bet that there were hundreds of classical music nerds and rock groupies that were just as shocked as the winners when they stole the awards from the real stars.

Please Excuse The "News"
Just to explain a little bit what I want to do with this blog, I figured my first post would be to interpret the title, "Please Excuse The 'News'."
Do you ever read a news article and think, "What the hell is that supposed to be about?," or "Why do these reporters try to be so politically correct and don't just say what they really think?."
Well that's exactly what I'm gonna do, tell you what it really means and never hold back. I will choose an article from a noteworthy publication, print or online, and then give my 2 cents worth.
So, good reading and dont be afraid to make your own argument.
